Grimsby Telegraph and The Target Features Sue Ryder Vintage Fashion Show

From the Grimsby Telegraph 30th May and a similar feature appears in The Target 29 May 2013.  As vintage fashion is a passion of mine I took my camera along to the Sue Ryder fashion show at Louth Town hall...
Through The Decades of Fashion by Jane Air
Through the looking glass and inside wardrobes of the past, the Sue Ryder fashion show was held at the Louth Town hall on thursday, to celebrate its 60th anniversary as a national charity, that helps people with long term illnesses.

Items worn in the show, a mix of modern brand names with genuine vintage clothing items, are currently for sale at the Sue Ryder shop on Eastgate in Louth.  Modern brand names are for sale downstairs and vintage clothing items and retro curiosities are to be found upstairs.

Modeled by local school pupils, the range of fashion decades included 1950’s style capri pants, 1960’s crochet tops, 1970’s flower power maxi dresses, 1980’s style tuxedos, prom dresses and floral prints. There was even a homage to the 1980’s shell suit.

I particularly liked the range of vintage wedding dresses which included a 1980’s all lace wedding dress,  a 1970’s ‘Little Bo Peep’ wedding dress and a 1920’s/ 30’s style wedding dress reminiscent of the fashion from the ‘Great Gatsby’ era.

Louth Town hall provided the perfect period setting for this theatre of fashion event with its ornate ceilings, flamboyant architecture and art deco bar for interval refreshments.

The next vintage fashion event in Louth will be held in Louth town centre on the 7th July so be sure to visit Sue Ryder for your vintage fashion gladrags.
